YAMAUCHI Terue
1982年、福岡県生まれ。同地に在住、活動。
人間という生きものとしての自分の源流を希求していた途上で、裸の海女が佇む一枚の古い写真と出逢い、それまで抱いていた日本人像や人間像が溶解していくような衝撃を受ける。その後現在にいたるまで、主に黒潮・対馬暖流域の浦々で滞在を重ねながら、海を基点とした人間と世界のあらわれを母胎に、映像、写真、ドローイング、身体などを用いた表現活動を続けている。済州ハンスプル海女学校（韓国・済州島）を卒業し、素潜りでの水中撮影を体得。また、フィリピン・ミンダナオ沿岸でも滞在制作を行い、フィールドを海洋アジアへと広げている。近年の活動の原点である玄界灘を舞台に制作した長編映像『つれ潮』が、東京ドキュメンタリー映画祭2019にて奨励賞を受賞。
Born in 1982 in Fukuoka, Japan. Lives and works in Fukuoka.
In the midst of her existential journey, searching and exploring where her life originated from, Yamauchi had a monumental encounter with an old photo of naked Ama divers that deeply inspired her to this day to pursue in exploring human nature and a world view nurtured by sea. In 2013, Yamauchi graduated from the Hanspul Haenyeo School in Jeju Island, South Korea where she physically learned traditional free diving fishery and began shooting underwater. Yamauchi has also carried out some research-based projects around coasts of Mindanao, the Philippines, and extended her field to maritime Asia. Yamauchi’s first feature-length film “Crossing Tides” shot in the Genkainada Sea, was awarded a Honorable Mention at the Tokyo Documentary Film Festival 2019.
