1953年、福岡県久留米市生まれ。1983年からフランス在住、活動。
自然環境と立ち向かってきた人々やその所産に出会い、自然との関わりの中で生まれた人間の叡智に惹かれるようになったのは1990年代のことである。人間と自然の関わりに関心を向けたときから、私の仕事には、生命に必須の要素である水、空気、太陽、植物が作品の中軸に頻繁に現れるようになった。なかでも水と空気は、現代の人間社会がおよぼす地球環境へのさまざまな影響を知ることのできるバロメーターである。自然へのアプローチをすればするほど環境問題が顕在化する今日、代表作となる二つのエコロジカル・プロジェクト、「空気が危ない？」プロジェクトと「ウォーター・フットプリント」プロジェクトが実現した。
「空気が危ない？」プロジェクトは、大気汚染でエコシステムが弱まった森林に注目して構想したプロジェクトで、太陽光線に反応して色をつける数千枚の円盤が木々の光合成の瞬間を視覚化する「光合成の木」を中心に、空気やエネルギーに言及する。（制作実現：2004年アメリカ、ニューヨーク「酸素分子」、2006年フランス、アルジャントゥイユ市企画「光合成の木」、2007年フランス、ノールパドカレ州立炭鉱博物館企画「光合成の木」、2007年ニューヨーク州ジャメイカ「光合成の木」、2009年東京、国立新美術館企画「光合成の木 Tokyo 2009」、2010年フランス、ルーアン市企画「空気の誘引」、2011年福井県金津創作の森企画個展「空気が危ない？光合成の森」、2012年フランス、ショーモン領企画「天の果実をつけた木」）
「ウォーター・フットプリント」とは、 現代の人間が生活をしていくのに必要な水のことを指して言うエコロジー用語で、家庭で使う水、農業・産業用水、運送などそれぞれにどのように使われているかを知る指標として使われる。エコロジー用語をそのまま冠したプロジェクトは2014年、フィニステール県トレヴァレーズ領で実現した。
Born in 1953 in Kurume, Fukuoka, Japan. Lives and works in France since 1983.
The main themes I explore are the relationship between Humans and Nature, forms of human intelligence expressed face to Nature. Vital elements such as water, air, sun, vegetation often appear as a generating axis of artistic forms in my work. Naturally these issues are related to our environmental concerns.
Water and air have been scientific barometers with which we understand the various impacts of the everyday human activities on the global environment.
Two main ecological projects have emerged from these reflections and considerations: «Air in Peril» and «Water Footprint», evolving since 2004 and 2012 respectively.
The «Air in Peril? » project focuses on forests of which the ecosystem has been likely weakened due to air pollution. The key element is “Tree of Photosynthesis”. Thousands of photochromic discs react in accordance with the quantity of sun’s rays and visualize the moments of photosynthesis of trees. The project evokes air and energy.

The water footprint ; an ecological term, ‘is a measure of humanity’s appropriation of fresh water in volumes of water consumed and/or polluted. The water footprint measures the amount of water used to produce each of the goods and services we use.’* My art project, «Water Footprint» was realized in 2014 in the domain of Trévarez with the cultural organization of Finistère.
