1962年　韓国全羅南道カンジン生まれ。ソウルで活動。

チョン・ジョンヨプは梨花女子大学にて西洋絵画の美術学士を取得。1980年代から版画や絵画など広範囲にわたる作品を展示し、広い視野に立ちつつ、また些細なことも見逃さない芸術実践を行って来た。「ドゥロン（畦）」、「ゲッコッ（干潟に咲く花）」、「女性美術研究会」、「イプキム（息）」などのグループに参加して熱心に活動したのである。
1995年に「Living Merged with Life 生命を生かし抱く生（暮らし）」と題した最初の個展を開催、赤い小豆や穀物の粒を描き続け、それはクムホ美術館での2回目の個展や、2000年にインサ・アート・スペースで開催された3回目の大個展まで続いた。ジョンヨプは、人間とともに生きる動物や植物に対する共感や危機の意識を表明し、それは以下の個展の作品に見られる。「消される」（アルコ・アート・センター、2006年）、「虫」（スケイプ・ギャラリー、2016年）、「静かな騒乱」（ソウル植物公園、2021年）などである。彼女はまた一貫して同時代の女性の生活を探究する作品を描いている。「誰かの妻、ジプ・サラム・シリーズ」、「顔の風景シリーズ」（2009－2021年）、「最初の晩餐」（2019年）などである。彼女の作品は、韓国国立現代美術館、ソウル市美術館、京畿道美術館、水原美術館など、国内や海外の多数の特別な展覧会に招待されて出品されている。
2020年にジェンダー平等賞（文化スポーツ省）を受賞、2018年には第4回顧庵（ゴアム）*美術賞（顧庵李應魯生誕地記念美術館）を受賞した。チョン・ジョンヨプの芸術については、『韓国現代美術双書002　チョン・ジョンヨプ』（Hexagon、2018年）や、『私のアトリエの移転の歴史』（Hexagon、2018年）などが出版。作品は、韓国国立現代美術館、ソウル市美術館、京畿道近代美術館、福岡アジア美術館などに収蔵されている。

＊顧庵（ゴアム）は李應魯（イ・ウンノ　1904－89　韓国の現代水墨画家）の雅号。
李應魯は1967年東ベルリン事件で北朝鮮のスパイ容疑により2年半にわたって投獄されたが、祖国の民主化のために戦った画家。

Born in Gangjin, South Jeolla Province, Korea, 1962

Jung Jungyeob holds B.F.A. in Western Painting at Ewha Woman’s University, and has showcased wide-ranging works and artistic practices covering macro-and micro-scopic discourses since the 80s. She was passionately engaged in “Dureong,” “Gaetggot,” “Women’s Art Research Association,” and “Ipgim.”

She had her first solo exhibition in 1995 titled Living Merged with Life, continuing her work with red beans and grains post to her second solo exhibition held in The Kumho Museum of Art and third solo exhibition Outpouring held in Insa Art Space in 2000. She has manifested her interest and sense of crisis on animals and plants coexisting with humans in such her solo exhibitions as Be Erased (ARKO Art Center, 2006), Bug (Gallery Skape, 2016) and Silent Uproar, (Seoul Botanic Park,2021). She has steadily explored the lives of contemporaneous women in A Someone’s Wife-Jip Sa Ram series, Face-scape serise(2009~2021) and The First Dinner(2019). She has been invited to many special exhibitions held at home and abroad including the National Museum of Contemporary Art Korea, Seoul Museum of Art, Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art and Suwon I Park Museum of Art.

She won the 2020 Gender Equality Award (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Culture, 2020) and the 4th Goam Art Award (Goam Leeungno Birthplace Memorial Museum Leeungno’s House, 2018), and her publications include the Korean Contemporary Art Book 002 Jung Jungyeob, Hexagon, 2018 and The Changing History of My Studio, Hexagon, 2018. Her works are housed at the National Museum of Contemporary Art Korea, Seoul Museum of Art, ARKO Art Center, Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art and Fukuoka Asian Art Museum.
